Pieces of my mind

The nonchalant movement is killing eccentricity. There is a time and a place to be nonchalant, like when appearing unbothered really will give you an upper hand. However, there is art in being considered “too much”. At the core of humanity, the uniqueness of individuals drives our society as a whole. We must hang on to this, and in all honesty, we must be “too much”. My favorite people I’ve ever met are those who possess traits I rarely see in others. It is their vulnerability that makes them relatable. There is intimacy in expression, in showing the parts of yourself that you know others may discuss later. It is an invisible societal pressure to appear unbothered and to fit in with the crowd. However, there is boundless authenticity in diving in and releasing all of your emotions. The feeling of laughing too loudly, the lifted weight that is telling someone how you feel, even at the risk of unrequited love. There are no limits to this besides the ones we create for ourselves or the ones we accept as truth from others. But the reality is, our emotions are our life force. Be a topic of conversation, have traits and quirks that make you unique. Carry a journal with you everywhere, wear a funky scarf, perform dramatic acts of love for yourself, and for those who deserve it. While nonchalance does have a time and a place in my story, it will hardly be a story worth remembering without boundless expression.

Sincerely,

Sammy
